The Black-Eye'd Pea Family Restaurant & Grill, a 65-seat restaurant owned by longtime restaurateurs John and Carleen Savvides, opened its doors on May 30, 2011. John and Carleen, who have been in the restaurant business since the 1970's, owned two restaurants throughout the 1980's and have been in restaurant general general management over 25 years. They decided to go with a homestyle menu when opening a restaurant of their own. There is something for everyone on the menu, which features appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, steaks, sandwiches, pasta, chicken and seafood dishes... all cooked homestyle. Even the sauces and delicious desserts are homemade from scratch.

Carleen Savvides chose the name for the restaurant, The Black-Eye'd Pea Family Restaurant & Grill... which should not to be confused with Black-Eyed Pea, the chain restaurant -- we like being one of a kind! Carleen named the restaurant in honor of her grandmother, who had a wonderful black-eyed pea recipe. Customers frequently ask why black-eyed peas are not found on the menu. Carleen just smiles and says, "Until I can make it like hers, I'm not putting it on the menu yet."

The Black-Eye'd Pea has relocated to 862 Brawley School Road and serves breakfast and lunch (see home page for current serving hours). Whether a new customer or a returning one, we hope you will come and visit us soon. The staff is friendly and efficient, and it's the kind of place where the owners really get to know their customers, so John and Carleen look forward to meeting you!
